The differentiation starts in the design. Like Xiaomi’s Black Shark unique back cover touch design, Blackview BV5500’s best-selling points are of course its toughness and the unique design. It has a thinner ergonomic frame to make its grip more comfortable and easier to hold, while slimming it down compared to similar devices. For hardware, the BV5500 packs a 5.5-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. There is a Corning Gorilla 3 protection on top, giving it some toughness. Its overall design is very small, and there is no shortage of fashion. In this way, it will also be loved by young men and women, not just outdoor workers. The aluminium frame is curved at the edges, making the device feel great to hold.
The Toughbook FZ-T1 is slim, extremely durable and sports a 5-inch display. This form factor, and the fact that it can make calls, makes it closer to a smartphone than a tablet – but Panasonic still insists on calling it a ‘Toughbook’. It was launched globally back in June this year. The 5-inch display has a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, has 10-point multitouch support along with rain sensing, glove touch mode and can accept a passive pen input. The FZ-T1 runs Android 8.1 Oreo and has an integrated barcode scanner which is capable of scanning barcodes.
From the materials to the kickstand, the Go feels, looks, and functions like its larger sibling, whose positive traits are well known. Microsoft’s main hardware product offers the best of both PC and tablet functionality through full Windows 10, a sharp high-resolution display, a built-in kickstand, and an optional keyboard and stylus peripheral, all of which are coming in the mix with the pint-size Surface Go. (The Windows 10 aspect is a little complicated, but more on that in a moment.)

The additional support will be dealt in one-year increments for up to three years and support will be sold on a per-device basis, rather than the per-user approach Microsoft has pushed for Windows 10 licensing. Prices "will increase each year," Spataro confirmed. However, Microsoft did not reveal Windows 7 ESU’s costs or the exact nature of what would be provided.
“Windows Hello uses 3D structured light to create a model of someone’s face and then uses anti-spoofing techniques to limit the success of people creating a fake head or mask to spoof the system,” Moorhead said.
The screen is an IPS panel with a natural resolution of 2,160 x 1,080, making it very suitable for reviewing pictures or videos, and providing excellent clarity.

All this ruggedness makes it an ideal device for anyone who works outdoors or in a harsh environment, but it may also appeal to people who are sick of expensive repair bills. The Cat S48c comes with a one-year extended warranty that includes free screen replacement if you manage to break your display.
There is a lot about the Unihertz Atom that really bolsters its appeal, as outlined above. In particular, it would be a great handset for those who don’t necessarily need a smartphone taking up room in their pocket or for those who don’t want their device to become a distraction. Android phones are already very portable but the Atom also excels on that front. It can quite literally be placed in a pocket and forgotten about until its needed and that’s not a bad thing at all. On the other hand, it will do just about anything a full-sized smartphone will when it needs to. The audio quality isn’t great, the camera’s not perfect, and the screen is far too tiny to be any use for those with larger hands or poor eyesight but those aren’t really the focus here. Instead, the Atom aims to be durable and functional without getting in the way and that’s precisely what it does.
“First users will be doctors and clinicians who are more comfortable with ultrasounds,” says Sanchez, now the startup’s chip design lead. “But, eventually, everyone from paramedics to nurses to doctors who have never used ultrasound will carry with them.”
Microsoft already tried that, it’s called Windows RT. It failed pretty horribly. There is no great rush by developers to code for the Windows app store. You could just as easily slim Windows down by removing the store apps half of Windows.
